Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared. – Buddha
As I writing this lines something strage is occuring. I’m obsessed around everything retalted to mental health. During the years of 2014 and 2015 I began to feel often very low on engergy and motivation. Often it came in stages for multiple weeks or even months. Even stranger was that as apruptly MY PERSONAL BLACK DOG began to grow, evenly fast the black days turnd into phases of hyper activity, energy overflow and almost excessiv endurance practicing.

Do you dream of a live with more time and more money?

I chose this great book for my first book summary because the it brought me a lot of new sights and tools for creating a life with more control, creativity and meaning.
Tylor is a driven, curious and open minded creator. Since he was getting ready for Law School he felt, that he was continuously striving for more in his live. Something bigger.
On his journey to purpose and vision he lived in multiple countries and continents including,
South America, Asia and in different States of his home country, the US.
“The End of Jobs” is the book whitch Taylor turned Pro. In it he combines all the knowledge he made and gives tons of valuable insights containing the evolution of jobs, society, economy and technology.
Okay, let’s take a look at some Key Concepts:
2 Have we reached the End of Jobs?
Taylor is going through 3 primary reasons to believe that we’re at peak jobs and approaching the End of Jobs:
Fast raises in communication technology and improved global educational standards over the past decade what enables companies to hire anyone, anywhere.
Jobs are increasingly moving to Asia, South America and Eastern Europe.
Extravagantly developing machines, both hardware and software, taking over blue collar factory jobs is now largely accepted – but now they’re increasingly taking over white collar, knowledge-based jobs as well.
Traditional university degrees gets more and more abundant – This makes bachelor’s, master’s and PhD Degrees less valuable than ever.
3 Where are the core differences in Jobs and Entrepreneurship?
In his book, Linchpin: Are You Indispensable?, Seth Godin defines a linchpin (Entrepreneur) as:
“An individual who can walk into chaos and create order, someone who can invent, connect, create an make things happen.”
Simplified we can say Entrepreneurship is connecting, creating and inventing systems, be they business, people, ideas or processes.
A job is the act of following the operating system someone else created.
Also a CEO of a company that is entirely accountable to a board or group of owners and mindlessly follows their directions is not an Entrepreneur. He may call himself an entrepreneur, but he has a job.
4 The Long Tail – Software is eating the world
The Democratization of the Tools of Production
The first of the 3 primary forces of the Long Tail digs into the decreasing costs of Product Creation and the transition from an owning to a Sharing Economy.
This huge shift is remarkably noticeable today when we take a look a the hotel industry for example. In the past, if there weren’t enough rooms in a city for visitors, a Hotel Company went and built a new hotel. They would pay millions of dollars for a piece of land, millions of dollars to construct a hotel, and then millions of dollars to hire staff to run it.
The sharing economy version of that is a company called AirBnB, which allows homeowners to post their rooms online so people can book and can stay in them. There are not many more houses now in the U.S. than there were 5 years ago, but AirBnB has created inventory (extra rooms to stay in) without creating more supply (building hotels).
The same phenomenon can be observed almost everywhere. Uber and Lyft have done done the same for the taxi industry – anyone with a car can become a taxi driver by signing up online to drive for the service. In the past it was difficult and expensive to become a taxi driver, according to Taylor some cities require drivers to invest tens of thousands of dollars to buy a medallion just to drive a taxi.
Do you need some more examples? Here you go:
- Blockbuster Cinema = Netflix, Amazon Prime & co.
- Record Label Industry = iTunes, Spotify & co.
- Classic Recruiting Jobs = LinkedIn
The Democratization of Distribution
“What happened is that the gatekeepers, all at once lost their power. If you want to make a record, make a record. Put it on iTunes; pick yourself. If you want to write, write. Build a blog; pick yourself” – Seth Godin
The Gatekeepers are dying. Anyone with a Laptop, an Internet connection, a good creative idea can change the course of his life if not for whole industries or the whole world.
Thanks to the explosive spreading of the Internet and Smartphones almost everyone has access to the biggest resource of human knowledge right at their fingertip.
The current trend shows that Outsourcing to specialized business partners which can offer their manpower on an online business platform or even through Social Media already started. The possibilities are limitless.
It’s up to YOU now, if you want to start your own Youtube Channel, a Blog, a Podcast or a Dropshiping business. The entering costs for Media creation and entrepreneurship has become as low as never in history before.
5 Entrepreneurship Is More Profitable than Ever
More Money – How to Make Decisions like a Billionaire
“A few major opportunities, clearly recognizable as such, will usually come to one who continuously searches and waits, with a curious mind loving diagnosis involving multiple variables.
And then all that is required is a willingness to bet heavily when the odds are extremely favorable, using resources available as a result of prudence and patience in the past.” – Charles T. Munger
Jobs = the slow lane
If you’re working in a stable job, you earn good money, put a little part on the side from time to time and hope to get that promotion you’re striving for a long time. If you’re lucky you live a good and stable life, if not, you could become a letter from Human Resources someday soon with as message like:
Your position has been replaced by Marissa. Marissa lives in the Philippines and has a degree from a London University and is more than happy to earn $10 an hour doing exact the same work that you’re doing.
Entrepreneurship = the fast lane
As Entrepreneur your risks are much more controllable because YOU are in control.
The Tactical Triangle, a Tool explained in the book helps you getting in control of your risk and income by adjusting the spheres of the Triangle.
Traffic – You can sell more units by increasing Traffic
Economics – You can Raise Unit Profit
Conversion – You can sell more units by increasing the Conversion Ratio
By raising any of these variables the profit the business generates will raise.
“Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.” Andy Warhol
“There is only one success – to be able to spend your life in your own way.” – Christopher Morley
Since there are living creatures, there have been always the thrive to freedom.
And once we get it, we always want more.
As the author says “Great work – the kind of work that will create wealth in our lives and the lives of others is not the product of obligation – is the product of freedom.
Freedom gives us a longer lever, a better leverage point. By seeking more freedom and building it into our lives, we not only improve our ability to create more material wealth and make more money personally, but we also create more of it in the world at large.”
More Meaning – The Final Key to Wealth
“What happened is that the gatekeepers, all at once lost their power. If you want to make a record, make a record. Put it on iTunes; pick yourself. If you want to write, write. Build a blog; pick yourself”
– Seth Godin
- We are goal-seeking, striving creatures.
- We seek goals which create meaning and freedom in our lives.
- The lack of meaning is a modern problem.
- It’s solved by pursuing a goal greater than ourselves.
- In doing so, we actually produce more valuable work, are happier, and as a side effect, make more money.
I found Taylors work one night at my parents house. After buying it I read the whole book at once. A thing I avoid normally. That night has been only a few months ago and the topics of the book highly resonates with me till today.
In my opinion the hardest part to take massive action is to transform any idea into reality. Here comes Taylors experience into the game. First he delivers more than enough evidence on the 304 pages of the book to catch fire and getting started. The second thing I highly appreciate is that he shares tons of priceless additional content, advice and tools besides the book on his website.
I absolutely enjoyed this book. It made me think to act NOW for a life with purpose and passion.
If your gonna read this book it’s a must to take a close look at the 90 Day Planning Template, which Tylor offers on his Website.
If you should lose your drive along the way please remember the following:
“Could your job theoretically be done over an internet connection and a phone line?”
ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING!
enjoy and much love,
